Nestled on the PA side just across the quaint town of Narrowsburg, NY, with the majestic Delaware River as its backdrop, a unique interior design project is taking shape. This project isn’t just about creating a beautiful space; it’s about creating a home that seamlessly blends two distinct design preferences into a harmonious living experience. The home itself, designed by a visionary architect, is a modern marvel that leverages the beauty of its natural surroundings with large windows that invite an abundance of natural light and offer unobstructed views of the river.

The Clients’ Vision
Our clients, a couple with differing tastes in design—one favoring ultra-modern styles and the other leaning towards modern classics—presented us with an exciting challenge. They desired a home that reflected both of their personalities without compromising on style or comfort and one that incorporated their extensive art collection. Their love for the home’s location by the Delaware River was the perfect starting point for a design concept that would ultimately bring their visions together. We love these super cool clients with amazing style!!!
A River-Inspired Design Approach
Drawing inspiration from the flowing waters of the Delaware River, we embarked on a journey to create an interior that mirrors the tranquility, beauty, and dynamism of the natural setting. The design theme revolves around a carefully selected palette of deep teals, plums, and bronze highlights, set against the serene backdrop of neutral Venetian plaster walls and bold printed wallpapers. These choices not only reflect the colors found in the river’s environment but also add a layer of depth and warmth to the home.

Venetian Plaster in a neutral white creates movement and highlights the organic stone against the river backdrop. We can’t wait to add window treatments and draperies.
Material and Textile Selection
Incorporating natural elements into the design was a priority, mirroring the architect’s use of natural stone in the home’s construction. The materials and furnishings were chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their ability to create a cohesive link between the modern and the classic. Luxurious textiles such as mohair, velvet, linen, and wool add an element of sophistication and comfort, while the selection of materials pays homage to the natural setting.

The completed Guest Bedroom incorporates modern, clean lines with rich earthy velvets, and crisp linens against a neutral paint, making the space feel clean and classic.
Custom Features and Artistic Touches
To further enhance the river theme, we introduced custom features that serve as focal points throughout the home. A bespoke chandelier and a custom carpet, both sourced from France, were designed to resemble the flowing river, adding a unique artistic touch that ties the interior to its surroundings. These pieces not only serve as stunning visual elements but also as a testament to the craftsmanship and thoughtfulness infused into the design. We eagerly await sharing these with you soon.
This project in Narrowsburg, NY, is more than just an interior design endeavor; it’s a celebration of nature, art, and the fusion of distinct design philosophies. By embracing the natural beauty of the Delaware River and incorporating it into every aspect of the design, we are creating a space that is not only visually stunning but also a true reflection of the homeowners’ personalities and tastes. As this project progresses, it continues to remind us of the power of design to bridge worlds, creating spaces that are both meaningful and beautiful.
